Construction Information

Despite the worldwide economic downturn and difficult recovery for most
countries, Russia remains less affected than other developed countries.
However, over the past years, Russia experiences some fluctuations over
its GDP growth and still remains dependent to its energy prices. This
situation led most companies to rethink their investment strategies and
to lower their expectations compared to the previsions they may had have
before.

Nevertheless, there is one local industry that remains robust in
comparison to other sectors. Indeed, construction industry is a very
buoyant sector in Russia for the past years. In 2012, the sector grew by
4% and an increase of 9% is expected for 2013. The industry gathers
residential as well as industrial construction, the latter enjoying a
growth rate of 75%.

Russia development programmes and large
projects are expected to largely contribute to the construction industry
in the coming years. According to a study by PMP Publications, about
ten big construction projects are planned from now to 2020, along with
government programmes, for a total worth of no less than 1 trillion
dollars. Among the most important projects, there is certainly the
preparation to welcome the 21st FIFA World Cup that will take place in
Moscow in 2018. Another important project is the Russian spaceport
called Vostochny Cosmodrome to be located in the Russian Far East. The
project already started in 2011 and is supposed to be completed in 2018.

Cutting-edge construction technologies will faster the different
projects. To be posted on new construction equipment technologies, most
stakeholders will meet at the CTT exhibition. The 14th CTT show,
dedicated to construction equipment and technology, remains the main
event in Eastern Europe. It will take place from 4th to 8th June 2013 in
Moscow. The objective of CTT is to bring together the different main
actors of the market, and from all sectors: road work, building,
transport, handling, lifting, concrete…. According to the organizers,
over 900 exhibitors are expected, and 28 countries will be represented.
The share of international exhibitors is constantly growing. And Italy
and Germany will even have dedicated pavilions. The exhibition should
